Livorno and Capodrise unveil community-led environmental initiatives

The municipality of Livorno, together with the environmental agency Aamps and local volunteer groups, launched the "Adotta una Cala" programme to fight litter on the city’s coastal coves. The initiative creates a network for volunteers to adopt specific bays, pairs it with a new awareness campaign and aims to restore a sense of civic responsibility among beach‑goers.

In the town of Capodrise, volunteers from the Comitato San Donato organised a summer creative workshop for children. Over three weeks, about twenty youngsters produced a four‑metre‑tall installation titled “Le Stelle della Madonna del Carmelo” using only reclaimed fabrics and other recycled materials. The artwork, displayed on the church grounds, combines religious symbolism with an environmental message, encouraging the community to protect nature.
