Livorno establishes technical group to map building risks

Following the death of a 56-year-old teacher due to a balcony collapse on Via Bonomo on August 14, the Prefecture of Livorno has established a permanent technical group to prevent risks related to building conservation.

Coordinated by the Prefecture, the group includes representatives from the Municipality and Province of Livorno, the Fire Brigade, the Civil Engineering department of the Tuscany Region, professional orders, and condominium administrator associations. The group will develop a model for progressive mapping of high-risk buildings based on objective technical criteria.

Additionally, authorities will conduct a review of all reported incidents since January 1, 2021, to verify the effectiveness of past safety interventions. The initiative will cover both private and public property, with a specific focus on inspecting school buildings to identify and address existing structural vulnerabilities.
