Livorno honors footballer Igor Protti with ceremonies and charity match

The city of Livorno is holding a series of ceremonies to honor the late footballer Igor Protti on what would have been his 59th birthday. The tributes include the inauguration of ‘Largo Igor Protti’ in the area in front of the Armando Picchi stadium entrance and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in the Curva Nord.

The plaque features a QR code that allows fans to view a film documenting Protti’s sporting achievements and his connection to the city. Additionally, plans are underway to create a life-sized bronze statue to be placed near the stadium tribune.

The commemorations will conclude with a charity football match at the stadium featuring former Livorno stars, including players such as Chiellini and the Lucarelli brothers, playing against a team of former Bari players. All proceeds from the event will be donated to local Livorno charities and associations.
