Livorno mayor pushes security reforms and hosts logistics zone conference

The prefecture in Livorno held a Cosp meeting where Mayor Luca Salvetti addressed pressing issues for the city, including the management of public spaces, tourism regulation, and the future of the Castel Sonnino harbour area. The mayor praised the collaborative removal of illegal material at the harbour and emphasized a joint effort to combat illegal tourism activities, micro‑crime, and recent assaults. The meeting also reviewed new national rules on e‑scooters and other forms of soft mobility, with a follow‑up session scheduled for 30 June to focus on public safety.

On the same day, Livorno hosted a conference at the Cisternino di Città on the Tuscany Simplified Logistics Zone (ZLS Toscana). Organized by regional authorities, the port system, and customs officials, the event outlined how the ZLS can streamline administrative procedures, attract investment, and improve connections between ports and the regional industrial network. Speakers included Mayor Salvetti, assessor Federico Mirabelli, customs director Davide Bellosi, and port authority president Davide Gariglio, highlighting the zone’s role in boosting the local economy.
