Ljubljana bus station relocates to new temporary site

The Ljubljana bus station has relocated to a new temporary site near Masarykova cesta, situated approximately 200 meters east of the previous location. This move follows the closure of the old station, which had been criticized by passengers and tourists for lacking basic amenities such as a waiting area, roof, and restrooms, as well as only accepting cash payments.

The new temporary facility, managed by Nomago, features 46 platforms—roughly 50% more than the previous site—to improve traffic flow. Key upgrades include the ability to purchase tickets using bank cards, alongside traditional ticket machines. The site also includes a traffic office with five sales windows, managed by both Ljubljana Bus Station and Slovenske železnice.

Additional amenities being introduced include Nomago Bikes rental stations, bicycle parking, and eventually, luggage lockers and toilet facilities. While the infrastructure is being rolled out gradually, bus schedules for intercity lines are expected to remain unchanged. Information officers and a call center are available to assist passengers during the transition.
