Alicante and Edmonton firefighters begin professional exchange

A pioneering professional exchange program has been launched between the Firefighters Consortium of the Province of Alicante, Spain, and the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services in Alberta, Canada.

Under this initiative, a firefighter from Alicante will relocate to Canada for one year, while a member of the Edmonton service will move to the Torrevieja station in Spain. The exchange involves not only a swap of professional duties and environments but also a complete exchange of residences for the duration of the project.

The program aims to provide both professionals with firsthand experience of different organizational structures, internal protocols, and emergency response models. Participants will perform their standard duties under the supervision of a non-commissioned officer without assuming formal authority roles.
