Lâm Đồng bans traffic on National Highway 28 due to subsidence

Authorities in Lâm Đồng province have prohibited all vehicles from traveling through a section of National Highway 28 in Phúc Thọ commune, Lâm Hà district. The ban, effective from 18:00 on October 30, covers the stretch between Km136+800 and Km136+900 due to severe subsidence and widespread cracks.

Continuous heavy rainfall since early September has caused the road surface to sink by approximately 35 cm. Cracks have expanded significantly, stretching up to 70 meters in length and reaching depths of 20 cm. The damage extends from the road surface down to the slopes and toward the edge of the Đồng Nai 3 hydroelectric reservoir.

Field inspections indicate a high risk of landslides and road fractures, with cracks expanding at a rate of 0.5 to 10 cm per day. The Department of Construction is working with project management units to develop design solutions to address the structural instability.
