LÙNAR festival to host international light art competition in Sofia

The fifth edition of the LÙNAR light art festival, titled ‘Lights of Sofia’, will take place from September 17 to 20 at the Largo in Sofia. Organized by the Sofia Municipality and MP-STUDIO to celebrate Sofia Day, the event features free admission every evening from 20:00 to 23:00.

Sofia will host the final phase of an international immersive video mapping competition. Seven finalists from Indonesia, Italy, China, Poland, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic will present works based on the theme ‘Urban Pulse’. On September 20, two winners will be announced: one selected by an international jury and one chosen by the public via the festival’s mobile app.

The program includes the ‘Topographies of Light’ spectacle by MP-STUDIO and collaborative content with ‘Etude-i-te na Sofia’. To accommodate visitors, certain central streets, including Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard, will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event hours.
