Lünen rolls out family‑focused programmes for the 2026 summer holidays

The city of Lünen (Germany) has announced a slate of activities for the 2026 summer vacation period (20 July – 1 September). The municipal museum will run 90‑minute workshops on printing techniques and a “Lüner Künstler:innen” creative session, as well as flashlight‑guided tours for children at a fee of €5 per participant. The city library’s Summer Reading Club, free to join, offers a range of events including Pokémon adventures, Mario‑Kart tournaments, stop‑motion workshops and an end‑of‑season party, with participants collecting stamps to earn a prize.

On 12 July, the “Tag der Natur” will be held at the Naturfreundehaus Schwansbell, providing free nature‑learning stations on tree identification, animal sounds and tracking, supported by local hunting groups, NABU and other nature organisations. Children can earn stamps and receive a small surprise. Additionally, the renovated youth hostel by Cappenberger See, reopened after a €8.6 million refurbishment, now offers 137 beds, conference rooms and a new dining area.

These programmes aim to engage families, children and young people throughout the summer months with cultural, educational and recreational activities across Lünen.
