Lobito Corridor meeting to be held in Zambia

Zambia is hosting the second high-level Lobito Corridor Coordination Meeting in Lusaka from October 5th to 6th. The summit brings together representatives from Zambia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, alongside development partners and private-sector stakeholders.

The meeting aims to transition from broad regional commitments to measurable delivery priorities. Key focus areas include infrastructure investment, trade facilitation, and the mobilization of the private sector. Specific discussions will cover priority road and rail investments, feeder networks, cross-border infrastructure requirements, and updates on the operations of the Lobito Atlantic Railway.

Delegates will also address the institutional work programme of the Lobito Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency and identify necessary financing and technical assistance. For Zambia, the corridor is viewed as a vital link to connect mining, agriculture, energy, and manufacturing sectors to global markets. The event is expected to be opened by President Hakainde Hichilema and will include participation from the World Bank Group.
