Lobito Corridor regional coordination meetings

Overview

Zambia hosted the second high-level Lobito Corridor Coordination Meeting in Lusaka on October 5th and 6th, 2026. The summit brought together representatives from Zambia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, along with the World Bank Group and private-sector stakeholders.

The meeting focused on transitioning from regional commitments to measurable delivery priorities, specifically regarding infrastructure investment, trade facilitation, and the mobilization of the private sector. Key topics included road and rail investments, cross-border infrastructure, and the operations of the Lobito Atlantic Railway.

During the opening, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema emphasized the corridor’s role as a foundational component for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He urged participants to move from policy discussions to operational execution to drive cross-border industrial growth and address the increasing global demand for African critical minerals.
