Angola plans new logistics hub to strengthen Lobito Corridor

Angola is planning the development of a multimodal logistics platform in Luau, located in the Moxico-Leste province. This project aims to strengthen freight handling and cargo capacity along the Lobito Corridor, a strategic route connecting Angola to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.

The proposed facility, presented by the IDOM/Globaltec consortium, is intended to include warehouses with an initial capacity of 583 tonnes, fuel and mineral terminals, and industrial zones for activities such as grain milling and precast concrete production. The project involves a 30-year concession for the design, construction, operation, and commercial management of the platform.

By connecting the platform to regional road and rail networks, the infrastructure is expected to reduce transit times and costs for goods moving from Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The wider Lobito Corridor has already attracted over $10 billion in public and private investment commitments.
