Lobor, Croatia hosts 12th Vladimir Sokolić memorial fishing tournament

On 19 July 2026, the Sports Fishing Society “Pastrva” organized the 12th Vladimir Sokolić memorial tournament and the 21st Janinski cup at the Markušbrijeg reservoir in Lobor, Croatia, as part of the Janine 2026 celebrations marking the municipality’s day and the feast of St. Anne.

Fifteen anglers competed. Josip Vlahek won the Janinski cup with a catch of 12.632 kg, Mladen Mrkoci placed second with 6.061 kg, and Vid Adanić was third with 2.148 kg. Special awards went to Ivona Delač for the smallest catch, Luka Hubak for the largest catch, and Ivana Delač for being the oldest participant. Prizes were supplied by Velk Stolarija d.o.o. and presented by Ljerka Kahlina, representative of the Krapina‑Zagorje County fishing association, and Mayor Ljubica Jembrih.

Mayor Jembrih said, “Janinski cup and the Vladimir Sokolić memorial have for years gathered people of all generations and show how community, volunteering and love of nature are vital to our municipality.” After the awards, participants and guests gathered for a social meal at the Ribička hiža terrace.
