Memorial fishing competitions in Croatia

Overview

Various memorial fishing competitions have been held across different regions in Croatia.

In July 2026, the Sports Fishing Society ‘Pastrva’ hosted the 12th Vladimir Sokolić memorial tournament and the 21st Janinski cup at the Markušbrijeg reservoir in Lobor. The event featured fifteen anglers, with Josip Vlahek winning the Janinski cup. Mayor Ljubica Jembrih noted that the events demonstrate how “community, volunteering and love of nature are vital to our municipality.”

In August 2026, additional competitions took place in Novakovec and Slatina. The 3rd Gusti Draksar In Memoriam Cup in Novakovec included 64 participants competing in float and feeder fishing disciplines. Meanwhile, the 35th Vinko Belobrk Memorial Cup was held at Lake Bajer in Slatina, involving 12 teams and 36 participants from several counties. The Brežnica Suhopolje team secured the transitional trophy, and Janko Brlas was recognized as the most successful individual competitor.
