Local candidates announce runs for school board and municipal positions in British Columbia
Several candidates have announced their intentions to run in upcoming local elections in British Columbia.
In Chilliwack, Christine Kruger has launched a campaign for the Chilliwack School Board. Drawing on 35 years of experience in public service supporting youth and families, Kruger aims to prioritize collaboration between educators and families. Her platform includes preserving extracurricular programs such as arts and sports, improving mental health outcomes through community partnerships, and addressing the educational needs of Indigenous children and youth in government care.
In Lumby, Lori Mindnich has announced her bid for re-election as both a village councillor and a trustee for School District 22. Mindnich has previously advocated for local infrastructure projects, including wastewater treatment upgrades and public works facilities, as well as school improvements such as outdoor classrooms and air conditioning. She intends to continue representing the interests of Lumby and the surrounding areas within the district. The local general election is scheduled for October 17.
