MyDr cyberattack leaks medical data of up to 19 million people
A major cyberattack on the MyDr company, which provides IT solutions for approximately 12,000 medical facilities in Poland, has resulted in a massive leak of sensitive medical data. The breach potentially affects up to 19 million individuals.
The compromised information includes highly sensitive data such as PESEL numbers, contact details, addresses, medical examination results, and prescription history. Authorities have confirmed the breach, though they noted that services have not yet observed the public dissemination of this data to protect citizens.
Many affected patients have reported receiving suspicious SMS messages regarding the leak. Deputy Digital Minister Dariusz Standerski warned that these messages, which often contain links, were sent without consultation with the Ministry of Digital Affairs or the Personal Data Protection Office. The Ministry strongly advises citizens not to click on any links in such messages.
Medical facilities acting as data administrators are currently fulfilling their legal obligation to inform patients about the incident. Individuals who believe their data may have been compromised are encouraged to contact their healthcare providers directly for detailed information.
