Local councils approve infrastructure funding in Dominican Republic and Mexico
In the Verón-Punta-Cana Tourist Municipal District, the Council of Vocals approved the incorporation of RD$12 million into the 2026 institutional budget. These funds, sourced from the Dominican Municipal League, are designated for the construction of sidewalks and curbs extending from the Verón intersection to the Los Manantiales sector.
The council also approved a municipal risk management policy aimed at strengthening prevention in public spaces and during large-scale events. Additionally, members unanimously approved the donation of land for an office for the Dominican Institute for Prevention and Protection (IDOPPRIL). A proposal to install a fuel station on Domingo Maíz Avenue was also approved with three votes in favor and two abstentions.
In El Arenal, Jalisco, the City Council authorized a convenio with the Government of Jalisco for up to 10 million pesos. The funds are intended for the rehabilitation of the Antiguo Camino Real, connecting the municipal seat with Santa Cruz del Astillero. The decision sparked debate among council members regarding financial transparency and the potential for the state government to withhold state participations if obligations are not met.
