Local farmers in Turkey cultivate diverse crops
In the Kızlarsekisi neighborhood, Ali Gök has expanded his saffron production from a single potted plant to a two-decare plot. Following a period of abundant rainfall, Gök reports high quality and early flowering for this season's harvest.
Saffron cultivation is a labor-intensive process requiring approximately 45 days of daily flower collection. Gök noted that flowers are gathered before sunrise, with the separation of red threads, yellow parts, and blue petals continuing late into the night. He expects a yield of 500 to 600 grams from his current land, with saffron currently priced at 900 TL per gram.
