Local initiatives in Argentina focus on animal welfare and phytosanitary legislation

In Berazategui, Argentina, the local government participated in the 4th edition of CASTRALAT, a Latin American mass sterilization campaign. The initiative aims to combat animal abandonment and abuse through free sterilization services for dogs and cats. During the event, 45 animals were treated at the Municipal Veterinary Clinic and 40 others at the Sociedad de Fomento 19 de Agosto in the Gral. Mitre neighborhood.

Separately, the Municipality of Colonia Elía attended a dialogue session regarding the new Phytosanitary Application Law. Organized by the National University of Entre Ríos (UNER), the meeting brought together provincial agencies, local governments, researchers, and agroecological producers. The discussion focused on the scope of Entre Ríos legislation, the challenges of implementation, and the balance between public health protection and productive agricultural development.
