Local officials honor sports figures in Argentina and Dominican Republic
In Salta, Argentina, the city council presented a commemorative plaque and a copy of Resolution No. 279 to Professor Antonio Figueroa in recognition of his long‑standing work promoting adaptive sports for people with disabilities. Figueroa, who has coached blind football teams that represent Argentina internationally, highlighted that the award also honors the athletes he has trained.
In San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic, Mayor Alex Díaz Paulino arranged for a plot of land to be allocated to bronze‑medalist Jonathan Martínez so he can build a house for his mother. Martínez, who earned a medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games, expressed gratitude, and his mother said she was deeply moved by the mayor’s support.
