Local Spanish officials meet to plan infrastructure projects and election tactics
In El Bierzo, Juan Carlos Suárez‑Quiñones, provincial president of the Partido Popular, convened mayors, councilors and party activists to review recent autonomous election results and prepare for upcoming municipal elections. He highlighted the party’s gains in 32 of the 38 municipalities and said, “Hay ganas de Partido Popular,” emphasizing the need for coordinated electoral lists and strategic work.
In the municipality of Piornal, mayor Javier Prieto met with Miguel Ángel Morales, president of the Diputación de Cáceres, to discuss local infrastructure upgrades, support for community associations and projects related to historical memory. Prieto praised the “actitud receptiva” of the provincial government and sought collaboration on funding and technical assistance for planned improvements.
Both meetings reflect Spain’s regional parties and authorities coordinating on electoral preparation and local development priorities.
