Lockheed Martin to provide Black Hawk training systems to the Philippines
Lockheed Martin has signed a Direct Commercial Sale contract with the Philippine Department of National Defense to provide advanced training systems for the Philippine Air Force (PAF). The agreement includes an S-70i Black Hawk Full Flight Simulator, a Virtual Maintenance Trainer, and customized courseware.
The Full Flight Simulator serves as a digital twin to replicate the sights and sensations of flying the S-70i Black Hawk, allowing pilots to practice emergency responses and instrument flying. The Virtual Maintenance Trainer utilizes 3D, physics-based models of airframe subsystems, such as hydraulics and avionics, to allow technicians to practice repairs in a risk-free environment.
This contract marks the first order for Lockheed Martin’s S-70 Black Hawk training devices and includes spare parts and sustainment support through 2032. By establishing in-country training capabilities, the Philippines aims to reduce the need to send personnel to the United States-based Sikorsky Training Academy, supporting the nation's broader defense modernization and mission readiness for search and rescue, humanitarian aid, and troop transport missions.
