Locorotondo hosts contemporary art exhibition and celebrates historic polyphonic singing tradition

From 13 July to 30 September 2026 the Leonardo Trulli Resort in Locorotondo will present “Ritorni. Il Risveglio delle origini”, a contemporary‑art exhibition that turns the historic trulli estate into an itinerant gallery. Works by artists such as Fulvio Bifarini, Stefano Bombardieri, Silvia Della Rocca, Giuseppe Maiorana, Gianfranco Meggiato and Stefano Pierotti will be displayed amid olive groves and the stone architecture of the Valle d’Itria.

Locorotondo is also renowned for its centuries‑old polyphonic singing tradition, a form of multi‑voice folk chant documented in August 1954 by American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax and Italian researcher Diego Carpitella. The recordings captured the distinctive vocal style that has survived in local religious and communal events and is now highlighted as a cultural heritage of the region.
