Locorotondo cultural events 2026 – Locus Festival

In July 2026 the Leonardo Trulli Resort in Locorotondo opened the contemporary‑art exhibition “Ritorni. Il Risveglio delle origini,” showcasing works by several Italian artists amid the town’s olive groves and historic trulli architecture. The show also highlighted the region’s centuries‑old polyphonic singing tradition, documented in the 1950s and now promoted as local cultural heritage.

The Locus Festival began on 5 August, drawing more than 25,000 visitors in June and July and reporting a notable rise in international attendance. Tickets for the remaining dates sold out quickly. The opening night featured a free concert by Enzo Avitabile in Piazza Aldo Moro, accompanied by a screening of the documentary *MUSIC LIFE* directed by Oscar‑winning filmmaker Jonathan Demme. On 6 August Alberto Ferrari performed solo at the Castellana Grotte, and from 7 to 15 August concerts continued at the historic Masseria Ferragnano and Piazza Aldo Moro. The free “Word Sound & Movies” series offered talks and film screenings, while a site‑specific sound installation linked to Andrea Laszlo De Simone’s album *Una Lunghissima Ombra* was re‑imagined by Studio Pase in the Masseria’s garden.

Together, the exhibition and the extended festival illustrate a coordinated effort in 2026 to promote contemporary art, music, and historic traditions in the Valle d’Itria region, reinforcing Locorotondo’s reputation as a cultural hub.
