Reggio Calabria by-elections: Center-right launches Roscioli candidacy

Political activity is intensifying in Reggio Calabria ahead of the upcoming Chamber of Deputies by-elections. The center-right coalition has officially launched the candidacy of Fabio Roscioli for the single-member constituency. Supporters, including regional coordinator Francesco Cannizzaro and Calabria President Roberto Occhiuto, argue that Roscioli possesses the necessary parliamentary and governmental expertise to represent the territory's interests.

Local councilors from Locri have also expressed support for Roscioli, emphasizing the need for strong institutional interlocution for the Locride area. Conversely, the metropolitan federation of the Democratic Party (PD) has criticized the candidacy, claiming Roscioli is being presented as a substitute for Francesco Cannizzaro rather than a representative of the local territory.

In separate regional news, Reggio Calabria Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro announced that the Calabria Region has allocated approximately 700,000 euros for improvements to the PalaCalafiore sports complex in preparation for the 2026 Next Gen ATP Finals.
