Rome extends Colosseum and Pantheon night openings through August

Rome’s municipal authorities have decided to keep the city’s most iconic monuments open later during the summer. From 1 to 31 August the Colosseum will be accessible four evenings a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) from 19:45 to 23:30, and the Pantheon will remain open every night except Thursday until 23:00, with the last entry at 22:30. The measure aims to alleviate daytime heat, spread visitor flows and offer a quieter, more atmospheric experience for both tourists and residents.

The policy follows a similar initiative in Milan, where the Castello Sforzesco will stay open until 23:30 during August. Officials expect the extended hours to boost evening tourism, improve safety by reducing daytime crowding, and generate additional economic activity for local businesses.
