Jakarta courts reject pre-trial motions for Roy Suryo and Lodewyk Pusung

Legal proceedings continue in Jakarta as multiple high-profile pre-trial motions face judicial rejection.

Judge I Ketut Darpawan of the South Jakarta District Court rejected the fourth pre-trial motion filed by Roy Suryo regarding travel bans related to allegations involving former President Joko Widodo’s diploma. The judge ruled that the motion was no longer relevant because the main case has been transferred to the East Jakarta District Court and Suryo’s status has changed from suspect to defendant. Suryo has indicated he will proceed with a fifth motion concerning compensation, scheduled for its first hearing on August 31, 2026. Polda Metro Jaya stated it respects the court's decision and will follow legal procedures.

Separately, former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Lodewyk Pusung, is preparing to file a new pre-trial motion in the South Jakarta District Court. This follows a rejection by the Central Jakarta District Court, which ruled it lacked jurisdiction over the matter. Pusung’s legal team is challenging the legality of seizures and detention related to an alleged corruption case involving the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program for the 2025-2026 period.
