Indonesia National Nutrition Agency corruption investigation

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is undergoing scrutiny and internal reform following corruption allegations related to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Former Deputy Head of BGN, Lodewyk Pusung, was arrested by the Attorney General’s Office in connection with the program. During pretrial proceedings, Pusung testified that he received a call from a Cabinet Secretariat official expressing thanks from President Prabowo Subianto shortly before his removal from office.

In response to the scandal, current BGN Head Sudaryono has initiated governance and supply chain reforms, warning that officials involved in misconduct or price manipulation will face dismissal and legal action.

As the legal process continues, Pusung’s legal team is preparing to refile a pretrial motion at the South Jakarta District Court after a Central Jakarta judge ruled that the initial court lacked jurisdiction to rule on the validity of Pusung’s arrest, search, or suspect status. The defense maintains that Pusung had no authority regarding the procurement of goods or the determination of nutrition service points for the MBG program. The legal team continues to challenge the legality of seizures and detention related to the alleged corruption case involving the MBG program for the 2025-2026 period.
