Logan police hunt gunmen after drive-by shooting at boxing event

Queensland police have launched a manhunt following a drive-by shooting outside Fitzys Hotel in Loganholme on Saturday night. The attack occurred around 8:15 pm during an intermission of a boxing event, where masked gunmen fired at least six shots from a Mitsubishi vehicle at people gathered near a drop-off zone.

A 19-year-old woman from Jimboomba was shot in the head and neck and remains in critical condition at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital. Three men, aged 27, 37, and 38, were shot in the abdomen and are in stable condition following surgery.

Investigators believe the attack involved pre-planning but are not yet certain if it was targeted or gang-related. The suspects, described as wearing balaclavas and gloves, fled the scene in a Mitsubishi ASX, which was later found burnt at Moloney Road in Waterford West. A second vehicle was used to collect the occupants, and a dual-cab ute was also found set alight at Tamborine.

Chief Superintendent Mel Adams and Detective Inspector Ian Galpin have assured the community that there is no immediate threat of reprisal attacks. Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or Policelink to assist in locating the shooter and their accomplices.
