Logistics companies expand electric truck fleets and charging infrastructure
Logistics companies in the Benelux region are expanding their electric vehicle capabilities through new infrastructure and fleet additions.
SVZ Transport has launched a new charging station for electric trucks at its main location in Zwaag. Developed in collaboration with Batenburg Techniek and Kempower, the initial phase includes eight charging points, featuring two fast chargers with up to 400 kW capacity. The facility is designed to support 10 to 12 electric trucks and is prepared for a second phase with 12 additional points, as well as future integration of solar energy and battery storage. The company aims to reduce its fleet's CO2 emissions by 40 percent by 2030.
Meanwhile, international transport company Ben Becker has introduced its first fully electric truck, a Scania 23P with a 356 kWh battery capacity. The vehicle will be used for distribution work within the Benelux. The company is using this deployment as a practical project to gain experience with zero-emission distribution, route planning, and the operational requirements of electric heavy-duty transport.
