Loïk Le Priol appeals 26-year sentence for murder of rugby player

Loïk Le Priol has appealed his 26-year prison sentence for the murder of former Argentine international rugby player Federico Martin Aramburu. The sentencing followed three weeks of debates at the Paris Assize Court regarding an incident that occurred in the early hours of March 19, 2022, in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district.

While the court rejected the charge of premeditated murder, it also dismissed claims of self-defense or impaired judgment. Le Priol’s co-defendant, Romain Bouvier, was sentenced to 19 years for attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons. Bouvier had already filed an appeal earlier in the week. Both men, described as being part of the far-right movement, will be retried before a new assize court.
