Loïk Le Priol murder trial: forensic evidence and military background presented

The trial of Loïk Le Priol for the 2022 murder of former Argentine international rugby player Federico Martin Aramburu continued in Paris. During the fifth day of proceedings, forensic experts provided critical testimony regarding the cause of death.

Medical examiner Isabelle Sec testified that while two shots attributed to Romain Bouvier were not fatal, the wounds inflicted by Le Priol during a second sequence of shots caused the death. The autopsy revealed six ballistic wounds, including two to the back. The cause of death was identified as heart failure resulting from a lung injury and significant hemorrhage. The victim's blood alcohol level was recorded at 1.93 g/L, which the examiner noted might have mitigated pain.

Testimony also focused on the background of the accused. A former colleague, identified as ‘Alpha 56’, described Le Priol’s seven-year military career in the French Marine Commandos, including deployments to Djibouti and the Sahel. While acknowledging Le Priol’s combat skills and passion for military equipment, the witness noted a lack of maturity, excessive confidence, and difficulties accepting authority during his service.
