Loki-Schmidt-Garten to host North German Apple Days
The North German Apple Days will take place on September 26 and 27, 2026, at the Loki-Schmidt-Garten, the botanical garden of the University of Hamburg. The event aims to showcase fruit biodiversity by presenting approximately 250 varieties of old apples and 75 varieties of pears.
Organized in collaboration with BUND Hamburg, the weekend will feature tastings, fresh apple juice pressing, and a large variety exhibition. Experts will be available to identify fruit varieties brought in by visitors. The event also serves to highlight the importance of orchard meadows as vital habitats for various plant and animal species and provides information on how to preserve these ecosystems.
