Lombardy Region announces safety and civil protection funding

The Lombardy Region has approved several funding measures and policy initiatives focused on public safety, civil protection, and local infrastructure.

To strengthen civil protection, the regional government is launching a 4 million euro call for municipalities to purchase emergency equipment, including 4x4 vehicles, generators, and communication systems. Additionally, a 7.5 million euro project in collaboration with Anci Lombardia will focus on making civil protection more inclusive, specifically training local technicians to assist people with disabilities during emergencies such as floods or earthquakes.

In the realm of law enforcement, 4.5 million euros have been allocated to support local police with technical tools, surveillance systems, and vehicle renewals. Meanwhile, political discussions are underway regarding the ‘Strade Sicure’ operation, with the Lega party calling for an increase in military personnel from 6,800 to 10,000 to enhance security in provincial capitals, including Lecco.

Infrastructure updates include a 350,000 euro allocation to install a temporary bridge in Valcamonica to restore connections following severe weather, and various scheduled road maintenance and traffic restrictions in Lecco affecting the SS36 and central urban areas.
