Lombardy civil protection funding and infrastructure

The Lombardy Region has implemented several funding measures to bolster civil protection capabilities. In August 2026, the region allocated 500,000 euros toward the second phase of a new inter-municipal Civil Protection headquarters in Canzo. This project, intended to serve as a strategic emergency hub for the Triangolo lariano region, follows an initial investment made in May 2025.

By September 2026, regional support expanded with the approval of a 4 million euro fund for the 2027-2028 period. This funding is designed to help municipalities and local entities acquire essential equipment, such as 4x4 vehicles, earth-moving machinery, and communication systems, with regional grants covering up to 90% of expenses.

In mid-September 2026, the regional government further expanded its civil protection initiatives. A new 7.5 million euro project, launched in collaboration with Anci Lombardia, aims to increase inclusivity within civil protection. This initiative focuses on training local technicians to assist individuals with disabilities during emergencies, such as earthquakes or floods.

Additionally, the region allocated 350,000 euros for the installation of a temporary bridge in Valcamonica to restore connectivity following severe weather events.
