Lombardy invests €96 million to expand affordable housing for workers and families

The Lombardy regional government announced a €96 million investment, funded by EU resources, to renovate roughly 2,500 homes for rent at reduced rates. The plan targets workers, young couples, families with ISEE between €14,000 and €40,000, as well as students and people in temporary hardship.

The new units will join an earlier 2024 tender that made about 450 subsidised homes available. This initiative is part of the broader “Missione Lombardia” housing programme, which has allocated a total of €1.8 billion for housing renovation, urban regeneration and welfare assistance during the current legislative term.

Officials say the effort aims to address the shortage of affordable rental housing in high‑pressure areas such as Milan and the Brianza, helping more Lombard citizens secure decent homes while they build families and careers.
