Lombardy launches rent subsidies: up to €6,000 for landlords and €2,400 for young tenants
The Agency of Alto Milanese, operating in Legnano and surrounding municipalities, has introduced a "Contributi per i proprietari" scheme. Landlords who register a rental contract receive a €1,000 grant plus a guarantee fund of up to €5,000 against tenant default, allowing total support of up to €6,000 per contract. The program, covering towns such as Busto Garolfo, Legnano, and Rescaldina, also offers free assistance throughout the tenancy, including tenant selection and contract mediation. Applications are accepted from 7 January to 31 July 2026.
Separately, the City of Milan has allocated €2 million for its 2026 budget to fund a one‑off rental bonus for workers under 35. Eligible tenants who spend more than 30 % of their net monthly income on rent can receive up to €2,400, with income limits of €40 000 for individuals and €60 000 for families. The measure targets employees, self‑employed and contract workers and is managed through the Milano Abitare agency.
Both initiatives aim to ease the burden of rising rents on residents and stimulate the local rental market.
