Frida Kahlo and John Constable Featured in Major London Exhibitions
London's Tate Modern opened a major retrospective of Frida Kahlo that runs from 25 June 2025 to 3 January 2026. Curators aim to move beyond biographical myths, highlighting Kahlo’s technical development, political context and her role in surrealism, with a focus on self‑portraits and smaller works that blend indigenous Mexican iconography with modern oil painting.
At the same time, the British Museum is hosting a celebration of John Constable’s 250th birth anniversary, with exhibitions scheduled until early October 2025. The programme includes digitisation of Constable’s correspondence and sketches, and regional galleries across the United Kingdom are planning satellite displays to complement the main show.
Other related cultural events this week include contemporary installations at Claydon Park and a Lithuanian‑American sculptor Aleksandra Kasuba’s work at Tate St Ives, underscoring a busy summer season for British art institutions.
