Long Beach police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run

The Long Beach Police Department is seeking public assistance to identify a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run involving 65-year-old Juvenal Banderas. The incident occurred around 7:25 p.m. on September 13 as Banderas was walking eastbound across Pacific Avenue, north of Pacific Coast Highway.

Investigators are searching for the driver of a black sedan featuring tinted windows and chrome trim. The vehicle was traveling north on Pacific when it struck Banderas before turning left onto 19th Street. Authorities noted that Banderas was struck by a total of three vehicles: a white SUV, the black sedan, and a 2021 Jaguar. The driver of the Jaguar remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Banderas died at a hospital due to blunt traumatic injuries. Anyone with information is urged to contact the LBPD Collision Investigation Detail or Crime Stoppers.
