Fatal hit-and-run investigation in Long Beach

Overview

The Long Beach Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run involving 65-year-old Juvenal Banderas. The incident occurred on September 13 around 7:25 p.m. as Banderas was walking eastbound across Pacific Avenue, north of Pacific Coast Highway.

Investigators report that Banderas was struck by three separate vehicles: a white SUV, a black sedan with tinted windows and chrome trim, and a 2021 Jaguar. While the driver of the Jaguar remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities, the driver of the black sedan fled the area by turning left onto 19th Street.

Banderas later died at a hospital from blunt traumatic injuries. Police are currently seeking public assistance to identify the driver of the black sedan.
