Long Chau Pharmacy launches cancer prevention project for Vietnamese women

The Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System has partnered with local medical facilities and eight international pharmaceutical corporations to launch the community health project “For Vietnamese Women - No More Cancer Worries.” The initiative aims to promote proactive prevention and early detection of cancer in women, addressing barriers to continuous healthcare throughout different life stages.

Medical experts, including Dr. Tran Dang Ngoc Linh from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, noted that cancer remains a significant threat in Vietnam. Approximately 97,656 new cases are reported annually, with breast and cervical cancers accounting for 37% of new cases and 30% of cancer-related deaths among women. Most diagnoses occur in the 30 to 60 age group.

The project emphasizes that while breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers have long preclinical stages, scientific advancements allow for effective screening and early intervention. The initiative aligns with the Ministry of Health’s national action plan for breast and cervical cancer prevention for the 2026–2035 period, which focuses on raising public awareness and expanding diagnostic and treatment capacities.
