Long Thanh Airport in Vietnam prepares for test flights as terminal construction nears completion
Construction work on the passenger terminal of Long Thanh Airport is approaching its final stages. About 80% of the building work – walls, finishes, waterproofing, interior fittings and landscaping – has been completed, while key technical systems such as the baggage‑handling, air‑bridge and fire‑protection installations are largely in place.
The Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) plans to begin a three‑month trial‑run of airport operations from September to November 2026, followed by commercial service slated for December 2026. The Vietnam Aviation Administration (VATM) is simultaneously testing and calibrating navigation, surveillance and control systems to ensure readiness for full flight operations.
The project’s final phase will focus on completing electrical connections, control‑system integration and final safety checks before the airport can receive its operating licence.
