Long Thanh International Airport construction enters final sprint

Construction of the Long Thanh International Airport is entering a critical final phase, with several key components nearing completion. According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the cumulative implementation value of the 16 main construction packages for Component Project 3 has reached approximately 79.46% of the total contract value, excluding contingency fees.

Five specific packages have surpassed 81% to nearly 100% completion. This includes the runway, first taxiway, aircraft parking stands, and other related works, which have reached nearly 99%. The aircraft fuel supply system has exceeded 97%, and the wastewater treatment facility is over 91% complete. The second runway and taxiway are currently at approximately 81%.

The passenger terminal remains the most complex and critical link in the project's timeline. Its implementation value has reached over 77%, with construction and finishing at nearly 83%, electrical systems at approximately 94%, and equipment installation at 71%. Work at the terminal is currently focusing on architectural details, equipment installation, electrical connections, and testing systems such as baggage handling, escalators, and passenger boarding bridges. The terminal's design is inspired by the lotus flower, a symbol of Vietnamese culture.
