Long Thanh International Airport draws interest from ANA and Korean Air

Vietnam’s Long Thanh International Airport, slated to begin trial operations in September 2026 and commercial service on 1 December 2026, has attracted visits from major foreign carriers. On 3 August, All Nippon Airways (ANA) sent a delegation led by Hiroyuki Masuda, Vice‑President for Japan, Southeast Asia and Oceania, to inspect the runway 23L, passenger terminal and overall site layout. ANA indicated strong interest in the airport’s development potential, though it has not announced a launch date for services.

Earlier, on 20 July, Korean Air’s executive team headed by Vice‑President Choi Jung Ho toured the passenger, immigration and cargo facilities. The airline is evaluating both passenger and cargo routes between Incheon and Long Thanh, building on its existing network of seven Vietnamese destinations. Korean Air sees the new airport as a future logistics hub and may add further routes to cities such as Quy Nhơn, Huế or Đà Lạt depending on demand. The airport’s phased plan will shift international flights from Tan Son Nhat, prioritising cargo in the first phase and completing the transition by late 2027.
