Long Thành Airport infrastructure to drive Southern Vietnam growth

The development of a major infrastructure ‘super triangle’ is expected to create a new growth pole in Southern Vietnam. A key component is the Long Thành International Airport, which aims to begin commercial operations by December 1, 2026. This project is intended to serve as a massive international aviation gateway and drive development in the East and Southeast regions.

By connecting Long Thành with the Cái Mép - Thị Vải deep-water port cluster, industrial centers, logistics hubs, and coastal urban-tourism strips, a new economic axis is emerging. This synergy is expected to transform Vũng Tàu from a traditional seaside destination into a high-quality maritime service and urban center.

Regional development goals through 2030 aim to establish the Southeast as the nation's primary economic driver, focusing on high-tech industry, logistics, finance, and international trade. Additionally, Ho Chi Minh City is positioned to play a leading role in organizing regional development space and connecting economic corridors to become a global urban center by 2075.
