Longevity market and health technologies expand

The healthy aging and longevity sector is seeing significant growth in both technology and commerce. In Spain, the pharmacy market for products related to healthy aging—including those for energy, joints, sleep, and stress—reached 1,032.5 million euros between September 2025 and August 2026, representing a 4.0% annual increase. Experts note that while consumers currently purchase products for specific needs, there is a growing trend toward consolidating these under a single longevity objective.

In medical technology, researchers led by Mass General Brigham in Boston have developed FAHR-Face, an artificial intelligence model trained on over 40 million facial photographs. The AI can estimate biological age and predict cancer patient survival rates by analyzing specific facial features. A study involving 38,000 radiotherapy patients in the United States found that those whose biological age appeared five or more years older than their chronological age faced a 21% higher risk of mortality over a four-year follow-up period.

Additionally, clinical psychologist Marcos Apud emphasizes the importance of natural lifestyle habits for longevity. He recommends establishing consistent sleep routines, such as sleeping before 11:00 PM and seeking at least 10 minutes of morning sunlight, to regulate the body's natural rhythms without the need for expensive supplements or technology.
