LONGi and peers launch high‑efficiency back‑contact solar modules at Intersolar Europe 2026
Chinese solar manufacturers showcased a new generation of high‑efficiency back‑contact (BC) photovoltaic modules at Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich. LONGi unveiled its Hi‑MO 9 Prime series with a conversion efficiency of 25.2 % and a 680 W power rating, together with four specialised variants – Ice‑shield for hail‑prone areas, Sea‑shield for corrosive offshore sites, Edge for high‑wind and snow conditions, and Hydro Clear for dust‑ and snow‑laden regions. The company also announced that the first stage of its 12.5 GW BC cell plant in Xixian New Area passed environmental acceptance, representing a 1.248 bn yuan investment and forming part of a total 3.206 bn yuan project that will boost LONGi’s annual BC cell capacity to 12.5 GW and support a 2026 module shipment target of over 80 GW, with BC modules expected to account for more than 65 %.
Dinto Solar introduced the DT198G‑FZ heterojunction (HJT) module, delivering up to 775 W at 25.05 % efficiency, featuring zero‑busbar (0BB) technology, 98 % bifaciality and a 30‑year durability outlook. GCL System Integration launched its GPC 3.0 BC module platform, rated at 475‑500 W with up to 24.05 % efficiency, built on cells that achieved a record 28.38 % conversion efficiency. The all‑black design targets residential, commercial, industrial and building‑integrated PV applications and comes with a 30‑year product and performance warranty.
Collectively, these launches signal a rapid expansion of Chinese BC and HJT solar technologies in the global utility‑scale market, emphasizing higher power outputs, improved durability under extreme weather, and substantial production scale‑up plans for the coming years.
