Lorenia Valles meets with Sonora labor unions
Lorenia Valles, state coordinator for the Committees for the Defense of the Transformation and National Sovereignty in Sonora, met with the Permanent Labor and Social Council of the State of Sonora. The meeting included representatives from 17 unions, such as CTM Sonora, SNTE Section 54, SUEISSSTESON, and STAUS.
Valles emphasized that labor rights are a priority under the Fourth Transformation (4T) movement. She highlighted recent achievements for both public and private sector workers, including progressive increases in the minimum wage, the reduction of the workweek to 40 hours, the establishment of 12 days of vacation in the first year of employment, and strengthened housing policies.
Valles noted that unions in Sonora and throughout Mexico have historically driven significant changes that have become constitutional rights and public policies. She called for continued dialogue between unions and the governments of both Mexico and Sonora to further the transformation agenda.
