Loris Karius eyes Germany call‑up under coach Jürgen Klopp
Goalkeeper Loris Karius, now the undisputed first‑choice at Schalke 04, said that strong performances could make him a candidate for the Germany national team now that Jürgen Klopp has been appointed head coach. Klopp signed a four‑year contract and will lead Germany at Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup, with his first match against the Netherlands in the Nations League on 24 September.
Karius, 33, reflected on his career, including his €6.2 m move to Liverpool in 2016 and the costly error in the 2018 Champions League final. After helping Schalke earn promotion and establishing himself as a cult‑keeper, he extended his contract through 2028 and indicated he could finish his career at the club. He added that if he continues to perform at a high level, he hopes to be considered for a place in the Germany squad under Klopp.
