Los Angeles AI Art Museum Dataland Opens to Public

Dataland, the world’s first museum dedicated exclusively to artificial‑intelligence‑generated art, opened its doors on June 20 2026 in the Grand LA complex in downtown Los Angeles. The 2,300‑square‑meter facility, conceived by Turkish media artist Refik Anadol and his studio, contains five galleries that blend AI, neuroscience, wearable tech, scent, light and sound to create immersive installations that respond in real time to visitors.

The inaugural exhibition, “Machine Dreams: Rainforest,” uses a Large Nature Model trained on hundreds of millions of images and hours of rainforest audio to produce dynamic visuals, ambient soundscapes and algorithmic aromas. The show runs through January 31 2027 and is also displayed on large screens at Los Angeles International Airport’s Tom Bradley International Terminal. Dataland’s data sets were sourced from institutions such as the Smithsonian, the Natural History Museum in London and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the museum operates primarily on renewable energy to reduce the environmental impact of AI computing.
